What isn’t it?

The FreePDB software isn’t a simple piece of software to install, configure and ignore. It requires a moderate amount of effort to install (there are a bunch of pre-requisites because it builds on a lot of other software), and a fairly steep investment in the initial configuration. This is really only worthwhile if you are then going to use the flexibility it offers you to continue to make fine adjustments to the way it runs and the information you extract out of it.

This is a set of tools that may be useful to someone focussed on performance or capacity management. If your job is centred on something else then it may well be that something like MRTG will be a better fit. Go ahead, use it – I promise to not get offended.
